My Sunday Grocery List
It’s Sunday, and for me that typically means one of few things: sleeping in, cleaning house, reading, taking long showers, and my fave…GROCERY SHOPPING. Especially at A-Market Natural Food Store, in Manchester, NH. Probably THE best natural and local food store in the country – no lie.
Sunday’s are a chill day, so I really like to take my time at the store to carefully pick out each orange, apple, and tomato. There is something about being in the produce aisle that is very calming for me. I dunno, it works.
Here’s a snapshot of what I bought today: (this will probably last 4-5 days. 6, if I don’t stuff my face at dinner…)

Produce
- 1 stalk of celery
- 4 sweet potatoes
- 1 red onion
- 1 bunch of carrots
- 2 gala apples
- 2 avocados
- 2 navel oranges
- 3 bartlett pears
- 2 red tomatoes
Protein
- 1 dozen eggs from Pete and Gerry
- 1 lb. ground pork from Yankee Farm
- 1 package Organic Applegate Farm Bacon
- 2 lbs. Misty Knoll Chicken thighs
Snacks
- ENJOY Chocolate Chips (gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free)
- 1 Jar raw almond butter
Total: $69.68
Recipe Schedule for the Week
Sunday night: Baked lemon pepper salmon with sauteed brussel sprouts (from last grocery trip)
Rest of the week: Beef stew (beef from last trip plus veggies from this trip), Spicy Baked Chicken, Ground Pork and Kale, lots of green smoothies.

Having a similar colorful patchwork of real food — still dirty from the earth — blanketing my kitchen counter is one of my favorite things : )
This picture makes me ACHE for Farmer’s Market season in the Northeast!!

Thank you for your comment Amanda! And welcome to my little corner of the internet
Yes, year round farmer’s markets would be AMAZING! And yes, seeing the food sprawled across the counter makes me smile. If you haven’t seen this, check out this site: http://www.localharvest.org – lists practically every farmer’s market and CSA in the country.
Look forward to seeing you around here more!

There’s a local farm near us that has a lot of greenhouses, so when we are out near it we usually stop for some fresh produce – it’s a bit too expensive and out of the way to go there regularly though so usually we are stuck w/whatever is shipped in to the local grocery store from around the planet.
I also can’t wait for the farm stands to open again in half a year…
Blaine, luckily for me A-Market does an amazing job at stocking local produce. It’s crazy to think that most of our food (fruits and veggies) are flown in from thousand of miles away. Which is why I’m starting a compost heap to grow my own veggies and herbs in my backyard!
…now if I could only get some chickens…
