Blaine, luckily for me A-Market does an amazing job at stocking local produce. It's crazy to think that most of our food (fruits and veggies) are flown in from thousand of miles away. Which is why I'm starting a compost heap to grow my own veggies and herbs in my backyard!

...now if I could only get some chickens...

There's a local farm near us that has a lot of greenhouses, so when we are out near it we usually stop for some fresh produce - it's a bit too expensive and out of the way to go there regularly though so usually we are stuck w/whatever is shipped in to the local grocery store from around the planet.

I also can't wait for the farm stands to open again in half a year...

Thank you for your comment Amanda! And welcome to my little corner of the internet :)

Yes, year round farmer's markets would be AMAZING! And yes, seeing the food sprawled across the counter makes me smile. If you haven't seen this, check out this site: www.localharvest.org - lists practically every farmer's market and CSA in the country.

Look forward to seeing you around here more!

Having a similar colorful patchwork of real food -- still dirty from the earth -- blanketing my kitchen counter is one of my favorite things : )

This picture makes me ACHE for Farmer's Market season in the Northeast!!
